Make Monday Less… Monday

It’s Sunday (AH!) and the work week is quickly approaching, filled with phone calls, meetings, commutes, and oh so much traffic. Can you feel your heart beating fast yet? Yep, that’s called the sunday scaries, and we’ve been there.

There’s nothing fun about trying to enjoy the last bit of the weekend while the storm cloud of work anxiety looms overhead. This can lead to an unproductive, and more importantly, unhappy Monday through Friday. Luckily, we’ve got your back. Here are a few tips on how to beat those sunday scaries, so you can get through your week with confidence and into another weekend of work-free bliss!

  1. Bullet Journal

No one should have to deal with a massive mumble jumble of tasks and to do’s. It’s stressful, but unfortunately it’s part of the daily grind, and is therefore an evil that we must deal with. But if we are going to deal with it, it might as well be pretty. Bullet journaling has swept the DIY Wellness world, filling Pinterest with hoards of bullet journal ideas and bullet journal tutorials.

The bullet journal’s efficient system makes crossing off everyday tasks manageable as well as aesthetically pleasing. It helps to look at all of the bullet journal to do’s and spread them out throughout the week. This will keep you from feeling overwhelmed and will help you focus on one task at a time. With a bit of bullet journal inspiration, you can create your own with custom bullet journal trackers, or buy one from an online retailer.

  1. Meal Prep

For many modern employees, office life means office lunches, and office lunches mean sad, soggy BLT sandwiches marked with a Post It note nametag in the back of the community fridge. Uh, no thank you.

Let me introduce you to a little something called meal prep. If you learn how to meal prep during the weekend for the following Monday to Friday, you can save yourself some time and worry. Healthy meal prep can take away the stress of running around the kitchen, grabbing Cliff bars in the morning, and can turn packing lunches into a positive experience. Meal prepping will help you stick to your diet and make smart, healthy choices. With tasty meal prep recipes, you can not only look forward to, but thoroughly enjoy lunch breaks, and treat them like the long-awaited oasis in the Sahara that they truly are.

  1. Get Outdoors

It’s hard to find time during the work week to get outside. We often find ourselves stuck under fluorescent lights, breathing in stale AC from nine to five. It can get quite monotonous. A simple way to combat this is to get outside during your Sundays.Whether it’s a casual walk through the park or a full scale mountain climbing adventure, exercising outside with some fresh air and sunlight will work wonders for your physical health along with your mental health.

Getting some more sun in your life can go as far as to boost your productivity along with your positivity. With the near infinite amount of ways to get natural light, there will be no more dark shadows for those spooky Sunday Scaries to hide in!

  1. Go to bed early

The only work you should be doing on Sunday nights is working on getting some Z’s. Adults need to get a full 6-8 hours of sleep every night in order to maintain a healthy, happy life. The last thing you need is to go too hard Sunday night and show up to work the next morning with bedhead to tell the tale.

Waking up and feeling refreshed will start your week off on the right foot and give you enough rest to feel confident about the work that’s ahead of you. The right amount of sleep can even benefit your skin, giving you that healthy glow to outshine the cubicle gloom.

The Sunday Scaries are just that: scary. But if you follow these steps, you’ll have nothing to fear. Start your week off right – organized, happy, healthy, and confident!
